Chance the Rapper Drops Fourth Multidisciplinary Single “YAH Know”

Written by on November 22, 2022

Chance the Rapper’s latest multidisciplinary release is “YAH Know,” a masterful collaboration of art and cultural exchange with visual artist Mia Lee and singer King Promise — and the fourth in a string of singles to be featured on upcoming project Star Line Gallery.

The next release in Chance the Rapper‘s series of multidisciplinary singles is “YAH Know” — this time, in partnership with South Side Chicago visual artist Mia Lee and featuring Ghanaian singer King Promise. Lee’s paintings primarily center on figurative expression and explores nostalgia, relationships and, as she describes on her website, “the emotional side of Blackness, or space in the world, and how we interact with one another — whether it be good or bad.”

This music video stays true to the energetic nature of Chance’s preceding singles (“Child of God,” “A Bar About A Bar” and “The Highs and The Lows”), while also striving to capture the heart of Ghana and its people by including video footage of monuments, dances and everyday life in the country. “YAH Know” shines a new light on what it means to be a traveler, how there is always an opportunity to learn and experience culture in a new way.

Chance stays true to his Chicago roots, though, including in the video moments of Chicago footwork and popular Afrobeat dance moves — seeking to both compare and highlight the similarities in culture.

“YAH Know” was released as Chance prepares up for the highly-anticipated inaugural Black Star Line Festival on January 6 — which he’s hosting alongside friend and collaborator Vic Mensa in Accra, Ghana — and announced the lineup the day before the latest single’s release. In addition to performances from Chance and Vic Mensa, the free festival is set to feature Erykah Badu, T-Pain, Jeremih, Sarkodie, Tobe Nwigwe and more. Stay tuned for updates on Black Star Line Festival through Chance’s Instagram.
