This week, Reggie Ponder reviews the new interracial romcom You People, starring Jonah Hill and Lauren London.
You People is an original story written by Kenya Barris and Jonah Hill meant to comment on modern day race relations between the Black and white communities through a comedic lens. The film is filled with a star-studded cast, featuring Jonah Hill, Lauren London, Eddie Murphy, Nia Long, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Duchovny and more. In the film, Ezra Cohen (Jonah Hill) accidentally mistakes Amira Mohammed (Lauren London) for an Uber driver — but this chance encounter leads to them starting a serious relationship, which, in turn, means their families have to meet… and chaos ensues as their families’ different cultural backgrounds clash.
