Collaboraction Theatre Company has been hosting a podcast “Crucial Connections,” bringing in different voices to spark difficult conversations. This week, they focus on the unifying power of music.
On the eve of Juneteenth, Collaboraction Theatre Company celebrated Black Music Month by hosting a conversation on the unifying and powerful medium of music to break cross-cultural barriers. In this episode named “Music Heals,” Collaboraction’s Crucial Connections podcast featured emerging Black Chicago musicians and their connection to social causes through music.
Collaboraction Theatre Company is a Chicago non-profit organization that works to advocate for social change through empathy, dialogue and action through the arts. With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, these conversations have moved virtually, many in the form of their podcast “Crucial Connections,” initiating dialogues and highlighting the arts still present
This special episode had guest Chicago musicians like Bianca Shaw and B. Howard, talking about their connection to social advocacy and unification through music. Special guest DJ Lady D closed out the episode with a complete live DJ set, as well as guided discussions facilitated by the Chicago House icon.
