Rashida Briana
Christian. Singer. Believer. Achiever. Others With a Similar Name.
Chicago-based writer and singer Rashida Briana has been singing since she was only 3, and wrote her first song when she was 10. Having grown up surrounded by a musical family — whether it was choir, guitar, bass or drums — it’s no surprise music stuck with the young soul starlet. Fast-forward to the present, Briana hit our airwaves back in 2021 with her single “Baby You,” demonstrating deep lyrical ability and powerful vocals.
Hear her songwriting history, places of inspiration, dream collaborations and much more in this 2021 interview below.
Bianca Shaw
Bianca Shaw grew up singing in her house and at church, and rapping alongside her peers. Inspired by Missy Elliot, Beyoncé and Erykah Badu, Shaw is known for her powerful freestyles and ability to convey vivid emotions through her rhymes. In recent work, she’s exploring new genres including alternative rock, hip-hop and pop. Hear about her come-up, past work, playing Lollapalooza and more in this 2020 conversation with Vocalo.
Kid Breeze
Kid Breeze is known in and out of the Chicagoland area for his lyricism and 20th Century take on ’90s gangster rap. After spending some time in the vibrant music city of Atlanta, Breeze returned to Chicago to release seven full-length albums, an EP and participating in collective 3 Kings with fellow Chicago artists Joel Q and Richie Wes.
“Chicago producer/emcee Kid Breeze has been consistently putting out quality music, features and instrumentals that merge new school and old school music. His single “john’s beauty supply” takes you back in time while sticking to the meaning of his latest project, For Quality Assurance.” – Bekoe, Bekoe’s Top 5 Rotation Picks: July 2022
Ro Marsalis
When Ro Marsalis isn’t mixing, recording and producing music at his studio business Feature Forms, Ro Marsalis is spitting some smooth rhymes in the Chicago scene. With over 15 years of audio experience in front of and behind the mic, Marsalis brings audio and performance his experience to his records.
Get to know Marsalis as he discusses depression, his studio work, Space(s) and more in this 2021 interview with Illanoize Radio.
