Channel Tres Is Making His Own Lane
Written by Vocalo Radio on December 30, 2022
Compton producer, performer and DJ Channel Tres is set to perform live at Thalia Hall for two New Year’s Eve shows — but first, he sat down with our afternoon host Nudia to break down what attendees can expect… and some upcoming releases to look out for.
From the moment his first single “Controller” dropped in 2018, Compton multidisciplinary artist Channel Tres has been working to blaze his own path. Inspired by the sounds of Chicago house and DC techno, Channel Tres finds his niche in the dance music scene with his signature blend of the two genres. He coined a term for this combination of sounds: “Compton House.”

Tres has graced the stage with artists like singer-songwriter Robyn, rapper Vince Staples, electronic English duo Disclosure and singer-songwriter Toro y Moi.
Channel Tres’ latest single “6AM’” was named one of Billboard’s “50 Best Dance Songs of 2022,” and he is currently embarking on his debut headline tour, including two Chicago shows at Thalia Hall — the first set for tonight, Dec. 30 at 9 p.m. and the second for Saturday, Dec 31 at 10 p.m.
Channel Tres stopped by the Vocalo studios this morning to break down the tour and his New Year’s Chicago shows with afternoon host Nudia Hernandez. The two also discussed his musical influences, his pre-show routine and so much more.
