Carlos, Jesse, and Sarah led West Side Open Studio, where folks can walk into the Chicago Public Radio Bureau at 2531 W. Division St., meet radio folks, share their stories, and get their voice heard on the radio. We recorded a man-on-the-street interview with Eric, who told us what he fights for.
We launched West Side Open Studio this Saturday. Folks toured the bureau and shared cool stories.
At West Side Open Studio (which occurs the first and third Saturday of every month at the Chicago Public Radio Bureau at 2531 W. Division St), folks can connect with radio folks who highlight life on the West Side, share stories, and get your voice heard on the radio. It's drop-in, so no sign-up is required. Just come on in!
Annie and Sarah led a Make-Your-Radio Workshop with some of Chicago's youngest artists and activists as part of the Chicago Park District's TRACE Program's Use Your Words Conference.
North Side College Prep students enrolled in Al Hennagir's Left of the Dial Colloquium came by to talk about their recent radio projects on air with Jesse, do some recording, and hang out at the station.
L is for Left of the Dial.

Learn how to make-your-own radio at the Westchester Public Library's Library Service Center in Chesterton, Indiana (100 West Indiana Avenue) on January 11th from 6:30-8:00 pm. Vocalo.org producers will teach you how to navigate our website, upload and showcase your own media, and record your own audio pieces using an ordinary telephone. Then you can be heard! The tools of the media will belong to you! Please bring your own laptop and phone, if possible. (If this is an issue, please let us know and we'll do our best to work something out.) This training is free and open to the public. For more info, and to reserve your spot in this free workshop, email training@vocalo.org.
