Working at the Pinata Factory Humboldt Park

Interviews by Noelia and Kelvin at the Co-op Corner Art center in the midst of manufacturing of giant animal pinatas.  The paper mache sculptures were installed  beneath highway under/overpass to bring attention to the spaces that used to act as shelter to some of Chicago's homeless population.  Here is a link to the full video at Current if you have a second leave a comment and let us know what you think.

Outside the Art Center/Pinata Factory

Two students and their mother who were killed at the northeast corner of Kimball and North Ave., on October 28, 2007 when an automobile lost control, jumped the sidewalk, and crashed into them as they where walking to the dentist. A decade ago, Stowe lost the lives of two other students to a similar traffic accident at this same corner. A spontaneous community shrine has been created at the corner. The third grade students at Stowe remembered their lost friends by installing, on the fence of the corner, silhouettes of themselves and an image of the mother holding her two children. These silhouettes serve an important role in healing their loss. This temporary installation is made of weather resistant plastic, and was easy to put up and take down.

-Demetrius a.k.a. Metchie

-------------------------------------

Metchie (one of Omar.S's younger brothers) has been coming around Co-Op's art center a little over two months. He has a a few other incomplete projects, most that are just variations of previous beats made by other Mobile Media Lab youth.

After Omar chose to not continue working on "eslim", I let Metchie be the 1st to "Remix" it.

Hopefully he'll continue making beats.
