Train Company on Live From Studio 10 (aired May 2013)
167 plays

vocalomusicvox:

After the first listen of their full-length The Remains of An Effort, it’s clear that Train Company is more than a blues band. The group crafts a diverse multi-layered sound with discernible traces of jazz, pop and even orchestral arrangements, all while effortlessly switching between anthemic rock vocals and airy indie rock introspection.

Live From Studio 10 airs every Wednesday at 8pm CST on Vocalo 90.7 FM (CHI) / 89.5 FM (NWI) and Vocalo.org, and features emerging local bands and music artists (with the occasional national act stopping by). No other station brings you this much local music, and no other show in the region does it live. The show is hosted by Jesse Menendez, produced by Fyodor Sakhnovski and engineered by Adam Yoffe. Big Paraid on Live From Studio 10 - 5/15 - 8pm CT.

Having entered Chicago’s music scene as raucously and loudly as their music sounds, the 60’s rock tinged trio Big Paraid is on a rapid climb, delivering a barrage of catchy and bombastic tunes with only two guitars and drums.

Tune in Wed. 5/15 at 8pm CT on Vocalo 89.5 FM (NWI), 90.7 (CHI), or stream here: http://www.vocalo.org

The Sweeps on Live From Studio 10 (aired March 2013)
189 plays

vocalomusicvox:

Drawing their influences from Motown sound, classic rock and, of course, this very city, pop rock trio The Sweeps have a penchant for hard pounding, yet melodic and lyrical songwriting reflective of Chicago’s history, people and places. Their new album “Swift Armour” is filled with fuzz-ridden guitar riffs, belting vocals, and raw energy.

The Virgins discuss new album and new sound
142 plays

vocalomusicvox:

Strike Gently is the long awaited second full-length album from critically acclaimed NY-based band The Virgins. It’s a follow up to their self-titled debut - a collection of soaring pop songs that catapulted them to national fame. In their stead comes a new album and new sound - what band leader Don Cumming describes as a more accurate representation of the band and who he is as a musician. Don joined Jesse Menendez to talk discuss the new songs and his more honest approach to writing them.

The band plays in Chicago this Saturday (3/30) at Lincoln Hall

My Gold Mask on Live From Studio 10 - 2/20 @ 8pm CT.

My Gold Mask has been hailed for their haunting and innovative sound that brings dark and murky sentiment into the realm of pop, and has earned them the moniker of “garage-goth.” But whatever the classification, the Chicago duo pull the listener into their own world of echoing vocals that hover over dark eerie soundscapes, punctuated by pulsating percussive beats.

The band will join us on Live From Studio 10 to celebrate the release of their new album “Leave Me Midnight” with live performance and interview. Tune in Wednesday, 2/20 at 8 PM CT on http://www.vocalo.org / 89.5 FM (NWI) / 90.7 FM (CHI)
