The Rundown

Oprah Winfrey, who in 2006 built a $40 million dollar school in South Africa, explained to Newsweek why she chose not to build a school in the U.S.:

"If you ask the kids what they want or need, they will say an iPod or some sneakers," she asserted, "In South Africa, they don't ask for money or toys. They ask for uniforms so they can go to school."

Meanwhile, in four separate incidents peppered throughout Chicago (all CTA-accessible from Harpo Studios), high-school students walked out of classes with assorted demands. The most common demand was a fixing incorrect schedules that could potentially prevent on-time graduation.

On this shift, Luis and I (with a little help from our friend, Dan) try to sort it all out.
