The Rundown
Brian and I start off today's selection with some stories of ladies who ended up on the wrong side of the law, and lived to tell about it. You might say they were all a little Ms. Understood. (Ok, blame Brian for the bad pun!) Their stories are redemptive - we could probably all learn a little from how these women are pulling their lives together. Then, Louis and I hear from some students past and present - middle school days, picture days - and generally yuck it up. Here are some things we talked about on today's show that we'd love to hear from you about:-Brian talks about how the city tore down the 43rd St. projects and the impending demolition of the Cabrini-Green housing project, and argues it's a good thing. What do you think? Is it a good thing that the city is moving away from big housing projects towards smaller types of subsidized housing? Are the residents losing community? What happens to all those people when they tear down the buildings? -We play some of Man Bartlett's middle school diaries, while Louis and I recount our own awful days in middle school. Did you have a rough time in middle school? Or did you love it? Share your middle school stories! - Chicago school teacher Jerome Holland recounts the awful experience of getting made fun of on picture day for wearing pink. What do you think of pink? Are you a guy who wears pink or a girl who can't stand it? Why do we care about colors anyway? Why is it that pink is associated with girls? - We listen to Usama's interviews with Iraqi-American activist Raed Jarrar, and his lawyers from the ACLU. Raed is suing Jet Blue and the federal government after they made him take off a t-shirt with Arabic writing before letting him on a flight. What do you think of the airline's actions and Raed's repsonse? Was the airline justified? Got a song, story, poem, rant or question that belongs on the air? Give us a call at 888-635-112. It's your station, after all.
