The Rundown

Your stories, our 1 o'clock fight and stories from the news.

Our 1 o'clock fight today: a young mother gets drunk and accidentally smothers her baby to death. She gets 16 years, plus another 6 of work duty. Is that punishment too severe, or just right?

Plus, we'll get your predictions for what's going to happen in 2009.

and it also depends on the person's mental issues. If they do have a chemical imbalance, then they may require medical intervention before you see a change in their behavior.
In regards to the conversation you guys were having on whether or not counseling can change someone's behavior, it can sometimes depend on how you view human nature. If you are a humanist, you will believe that we are all integrally good and that with guidance and effort, you can change for the better. But I do think that in order to change cycles of violence (because many times victims of violence often become perpetrators of violence), the earlier you catch the problem, the more the chances of reformed behavior. I think it would be harder to change someone at the age of 40 or 60.
