Being nice is a waste of time if the person you're being nice to is an unappreciative jerk. That was the conclusion one man came to after his girlfriend was accused of stealing a phone she was trying to return to its owner.  What do you think? Does it always pay to be kind and/or honest? Or, should we just save our energy for the people who deserve it? 

Joining us to argue the point is comic Fay Canale, who likes to call herself "The Grouchiest Woman in Chicago." She says it pays to be mean. And you? Call us up or hit the shout box to tell us why nice guys and gals may finish last, or why they always win in the end.

John McCain pulls a stunning surprise move with his choice of running mate (remember our conversation yesterday about the glass ceiling for women?!) and Barack Obama hammers home his campaign message for change at the final night of the DNC.
