The Rundown
We speak with Film curator and self described "lapsed academic" Noel Lawerence about his DVD label Other Cinema (that he runs with found-footage cut up master Craig Baldwin) and his expertise on exploitive filmmaker J.X Williams. Williams is a shady and mysterious filmmaker who directed a dark film (that has been suppressed for decades) called Peep Show. Williams was also linked with the Chicago Mafia and the Family Secret Mob .
We discuss the art and controversy of appropriation in film and audio with Mark Hosler examples from the notorious sound collagist Negativland.
We also call in local Chicago film legend Tom Palazzolo and producer/filmmaker Dan Andries.
Are you an artist, filmmaker or musician that has appropriated work to create your own statement? Call and be part of the conversation.
