Community Guidelines
:V Big Deals
Let’s just do these right here at the top and get them over with. We here at Vocalo.org want this to be a site where you can experiment and push the boundaries of traditional media. However, we want to do this in an environment that is safe for anyone who may want to participate. So there are two things that are absolutely, never ever, no not even on special holidays, okay to post on the site:
- Hate Speech
- Pornography
Depending on the degree of severity, the above behaviors may result in a warning e-mail or immediate banning from the site. If you find something like this on the site, please flag it as objectionable or email the online community manager at Shannon@Vocalo.org.
In addition, there are rules about what we can and can’t air on the radio (certain curse words for example). However, they will be allowed on the website under the explicit label (see below) and can be edited and played on-air.
Ownership and Copyright
We know you have all read the Terms of Service in detail, ‘cause you’re the kind of level headed people who read everything you e-sign (We do!). But as a reminder: If it’s not yours or if you don’t have share rights, don’t post it. If it is yours, it will remain yours. You can give share rights to other users.
We may play it. We may edit it. BUT unlike some other sites (we won’t point fingers, being the polite site we are) we want your work to remain yours.
Your original piece will remain intact on the site.
Spam
You will be so unpopular if you do this. We won’t even want the stuff you are selling, promoting, etc., because we will think you are such a jerk. We also may send you a stern e-mail or take you off the site. So yah, don’t spam.
Play Nice
We’re not saying don’t be critical or don’t disagree. We’re just saying, don’t be abusive of the site. This community is built on trust, don’t break it.
Mature Content/Explicit
All kinds of people use our website. If your material is not for the general audience, please flag it as explicit. You can also flag another user's work, that has not yet been flagged. If we like what we hear, but it breaks FCC laws and therefore we are not allowed to air it, we may gently edit it so that it can be heard on the airwaves. However, the content will remain in its original form online.
