When I was 6 I believed (truly truly) that I was the reincarnation of Joan of Arc. I think its because I was small, but wanted so badly to be tough. That's still true. I am also the Online Community Manager for this fine site.

In the past I have taught audio documentary to teens, worked as freelance audio producer, and served as the Youth Services Coordinator for the Arab American Action Network.

darlene: Do you have any solutions for homelessness? Not looking for a total cure (that might be unrealistic) just something that may have been overlooked...What would you do personally to help?

mt: As with all of us, I imagine there is a measure of personal responsibility, a measure of fate -- and a pinch of chance thrown in there.

sarah.e.lu: There are factors beyond an individual person's control that can add up and put them in a situation where they are homeless. A young person my choose to leave their home because they are being abused--they have agency in choosing to leave a crappy situation, but they didn't ask for the crappy situation, you know? I think it's complicated.

sarah.e.lu: It's a bad idea to entirely blame a homeless person for being homelessness--but people do that to justify refusing to help homeless people. Lame.
