I’m excited by different points of view. The world is divided between people who care and people who think they can get away with not caring. I was born and raised in Northwest Indiana, the son of a steel worker. My daughter is 10 and I live in a 110 year old house in downtown Valpo with my wife Debbie.

Do you have any solutions for homelessness? Not looking for a total cure (that might be unrealistic) just something that may have been overlooked...What would you do personally to help?

Do you think homeless people are responsible for their own predicament? Why or why not?
As with all of us, I imagine there is a measure of personal responsibility, a measure of fate -- and a pinch of chance thrown in there.
There are factors beyond an individual person's control that can add up and put them in a situation where they are homeless. A young person my choose to leave their home because they are being abused--they have agency in choosing to leave a crappy situation, but they didn't ask for the crappy situation, you know? I think it's complicated.
It's a bad idea to entirely blame a homeless person for being homelessness--but people do that to justify refusing to help homeless people. Lame.
