That's a headline from this week's La Raza newspaper: Couples in the U.S. who want to hire a surrogate (Baby Mama, anyone?)-- that is, someone to be pregnant for them-- are looking for bargains in Latin America, where women are willing to carry your baby for about half (or a third) of what surrogates in the U.S. charge.
And are some parents falling for Internet scams? Yup. There's mafiosos out there who'll take your money but not supply the mommy.
Hey, we've been talking about wet-nursing this afternoon-- how different is surrogate parenthood?
La Raza editor Jorge Mederos joins us by phone to talk about the globalization of human reproduction. (Click here for the La Raza story in Spanish... and then maybe use Google Translate if you don't read Spanish.)
