The Pope's in the U.S., and pretty much the first thing he said was that he was "deeply ashamed" about the sex-abuse scandals that have rocked the Church in this country. He promised to do better.
He also made a clear distinction between pedophilia and homosexuality: "I do not wish to talk at this moment about homosexuality, but about pedophilia, which is another thing," is how the Chicago Tribune quotes him. Did you expect Pope Benedict to take the time to make that difference clear?
