I got a new video card and just wondering if anyone knows if its a good one.

Trying to do a Vocalo.org litmus test on geeks.

my 6600GT blew, that's why I got the 9600GT... seriously, it started acting up and next thing you know some of the capacitors blew... when I find my camera I'll post pics. I play COD2 mostly but am thinking about getting COD4 and/or Battlefield 2142.

Already I'm seeing a difference, the graphics are much improved. The comp is running more smoothly and alt-tabbing is no problem. I was going to get a 8800GT 512MB 256-bit card but didn't want to spend the money just yet.

I'm also about to upgrade my AMD 3400 64 processor to a AMD 64 X2 4200 processor.

Basically I'm making significant but frugal upgrades.

But first, my next upgrade is going to be a monitor to finally utilize the HDMI.

Yup, I own a 8800GTS320 in my custom-built rig and despite it being the high-er-end card from the nVIDIA 8-series its 320megs end up resulting in it getting beaten by your new card so congrats there ;-) It's ready for just about anything you may ever wish to throw at it [with the exception of maybe Crysis on maximum settings but then again that game needs a super-computer to run on maximum settings] ... What types of games do you play or did you just get it to enjoy high-def content [the now extinct HD-DVD or Blu-Ray stuff]
