Is it always about being wary of who is coming in? Isn't some part of xenophbia also due to not wanting to go where 'the other' is?

Case in point, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinijad. His visit to Columbia University in New York was controversial, to be sure, but did he deserve the disrespect he received? We can disagree with his politics or his stance on homosexuality, but it takes some serious stones to go into that kind of hostile environment.

Would President Bush be willing to go somewhere he might not be wanted and answer questions from the public in another country? Would Obama or Hillary?
