Are charter or magnet schools unfair to the people who are excluded or do distinct groups deserve a place of their own? Why?
winker:
the good is getting a bunch of people together interested in the same thing (like science focus for example) the bad for the kids is keeping them with people who may be too much like them. not enough diversity.
FreddyB:
You want kids to feel safe and secure at school, but at the same time, they will not be sheltered throughout life. So, they should try to attend a regular school and school officials should be required to protect them as best they can irregardless of a kid's sexuality. I feel for any kid who gets picked on at school but is segregation the right way to deal with the problem, I don't know?

The H3 that Rudy Clay is driving is $30,000. A new Chevy Impala is about $23,000. If the city wasn't hurting the way it is, I don't think it would be a big deal. But since the city is looking for a big bailout from the state, it's not good public policy. But what do you expect from the mayor of Gary, Indiana? I don't think good public policy is first on their list. I think a bigger issue is him receiving another paycheck from the sanitary district.
FreddyB:
Detroit Lions. Anyone who knows football knows that the Lions have talent on that team. It was the coaching. The play calling and decision making by the coaches in the game cost them at least three or four wins. The head coach of the Lions, who was fired, may end up with the Bears as an assistant coach, so it doesn't look like going 0-16 will affect him much. That's not right, but then again Lovey Smith isn't too bright to begin with.
