With today's primary elections in Illinois-- including hotly-contested races for governor, Cook County Board President, and for Barack Obama's old U.S. Senate seat-- and with President Obama making lots of headlines in the last week, this seems like a good time to ask:
Hey, 15 months later, what stands out in your memory from Election Day 2008? What's the first moment, the first image that comes to mind?
And how does it feel to look back on it now? 888-635-1112

On the broadcast, we'll have election judges-- who also happen to be high school students-- reporting in from polling places around the city of Chicago. They were all at the polling places in November 2008, and ready to share some memories.
A local blogger whose handle is too graphic to say on the air puts it this way:
President Barrack "Muslim" Obama is the 1st US President to drop Merry Christmas from the official White House greeting card
Just that headline, and a couple of graphics. One's below, the other's here. (Fair warning: you might find it offensive. Provocation-- especially around race-- is a s specialty of this blog.)
This Chicago Tribune report confirms the story (except for the he's-a-Muslim part).
... and Obama did send greetings to Muslims around the world in honor of the Eid-ul-Adha holiday in late November, with a shout-out to those performing the annual Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca).
Compare and contrast: George and Laura Bush included a Bible verse in their cards, the Trib says.
So: You solve it. For today, you're in charge of writing the Presidential Christmas Card. What should it say?
