Lyatonde Connected
More than 2.5 billion people live in rural areas of developing countries where access to communication is severely limited due to availability or affordability. In rural Uganda, most teachers, students, farmers, business owners, and health care providers work without access to information and communication technologies that can transform their lives in simple yet profound ways. "Lyantonde Connected" is an audio documentary that lets community members offer their perspectives on the benefits of having easier access the Internet.
Digital Divide
african children

This conversation is based on an advertisement for the One Laptop Per Child Organization in which a small African girl claims she's from a place "you've never heard of", "a continent You'd rather forget"..... She also declares that with Education Africans can "solve their own problems"... Something bugs me about it, and I wonder if I'm the only one.  In this clip, Steve & I play the clip and receive a call from Kazeem, a Nigerian listener who is equally irked.

Primitive Store Owner

Check out some of the restored art and historical pieces from around the world that you can see when you visit the Primitive store In Chicago's West Loop/Fulton Market area.  The place is more like a museum than a store!  Glen the owner (see pic below) came on Midday to tell us about his travels and the huge warehouse sale they'll be having soon.  Go to their website for more details.
