Why: “The input and active participation of our listeners is integral to the sound and success of our broadcast,” says Vocalo.org interim general manager Adam Yoffe. “Teaching our audience how to get their opinions and voices on the radio and online is a crucial part of our organization’s mission to lift up voices typically underrepresented in media.”

Sacrifice is the name of the game, here. The US Environmental Protection Agency announced it will propose new rules for regulating carbon emissions as a way to roll back climate change. Industry and the thousands of folks who work for industry are not making high pitched squeaky noises, fearing the new rules could cost job or make their businesses less competitive.

Vocalo.org (89.5 FM, WBEW) invites its listeners to a make-your-own radio training on September 22. The training will be held at the Westchester Public Library, 100 W. Indiana Avenue, downtown Chesterton, Indiana. The training is free and open to the public. Participants are asked to bring their cell phones and laptops.
Participants will learn how to navigate the Vocalo.org website, upload and showcase their own media and record their own audio pieces using an ordinary telephone.
