America in Crisis a view of healthcare, and the American Way to make things better!
I am in crisis and don’t know what to do. I live alone with my dog, in a hotel, yes I some have food now but that’s not the issue, they always go right into you need food when America’s are over weight and dying!
I am not working due to health issues after working over 30 yrs in corporations no 401K nothing many of those businesses went bankrupt and the 401k’s vanished you will know this fact soon yourself once you attempt to receive it, in fact I was told that STATE OF ILLINOIS EMPLOYEES Pensions are NOT AVAILABLE because there is NO MONEY!
I called social services agencies in my area and have received little help many seem bias and have an open option that we are lazy and not willing to work, when really there are not JOBS, and many JOBS are going to the new base of foreign workers who have come here from war ravished countries, yes for a war that began because of what? Oh yes, to get Bin Laden who we have not located but again we found Hasan in a hole in the ground and can located what we want but this man is beyond findable nor do they really want to get him and have him talk about what really went on?
Because of the war, because we tossed money into it, then the job market began to change here in the US, people ran out and attempted to make money rehabbing homes and got twisted up in the game of stealing more money by creative con games whereby consumers got homes with no money down no doc low doc buy buy frenzy, Yes I worked in that industry too and saw what was happening, reported it, no one cared then now I called it back in 2000 we have upside down appraised values and more and more homeowners are going to lose homes once this is realized but again this is America.
I am also concerned about my housing. In fact I was living in my car for three weeks because I could not pay my hotel bill while my dog was allowed to stay in the room until I got the money to pay the bill so in health crisis I am in then I can be out in the streets sick. Yes I know people with money no they are not interested no one is really a few people came to my aid, and I got help when I had my children and they are in crisis too afraid of coming out while the police stalk the streets in the game of ticket madness this is our world gone mad.
Because of the conditions of stress, having congestive heart failure, problems with edema in my legs and feet, fatigue disorder, joint pain, brittle hair which has been falling out and turning gray. Issues with my teeth and gums being infected and with abscesses (can not get help on this either because I have the congestive heart failure, fatigue and numbness tingling like pins and needles in my feet and hands on the left side of my body. Also I have gland swelling under my arms, in my groin. My hands, mouth, tongue are dry and my sinuses are dried out to with a crushed area inside that reoccurs.
I have been in and out of ER’s because my medical card in many cases can not be used by many doctors out here because of billing not being paid (it’s Medicaid). I got no food stamps and hardly make it weekly. The housing programs within the country of DuPage Ill. Has no section 8 available to me, nor again can I get any agency to really help. But if you are from another country yep you got it they have housing available! While we Americans are on the streets its ok because we have it GOOD they say!
I called into the county and was giving an agency that can pay to provide for people to come out to assist I needed someone to get away for me, this was before I got to stage 3, I was at stage 2 on a walker, could not go up and down stairs had problems cooking and or doing anything else. But after waiting over a month they refused me saying I was not considered sick enough.
The Churches refuse to help because of one time only policies. The larger the Church the less available they are to outside communities, and the ones that had helped in the pass make me feel that if I call them I am stealing from them and it gets worse! Again within the pantry lines are more and more foreigners they are greeted and treated with more regard that those coming from here. Why?
I have a car, and asked if I could get gas at one very very large Church they almost refused me but then decided to help with $10 I was told to drive 4 miles to the police department to give them my license and information so I will not ask for help again, for a year the trip used up the gas, the gas I needed to go to the hospital.
I had to be registered for this by the police department signing a statement that I will never come back to that Church for help again for a year and or could be it seemed subjected to arrest!
There are people who can not get a Medicaid card, others who have little and are living in broken down trucks that are abandoned. Then the report came in on Channel 7 News in Chicago, that the townships have money they are to be used for social services and they are not using them, they are holding on to them huh! Well you have people on the street near death and worse those who need aid and they are holding the money, the taxpayer’s money to be used for these services. In the report they talked about Cook but I know it’s within all of them but again we are not involved in this process nor do we have the time to get involved because we are fighting for our lives here in America.
Each time if I have a day I am not too bad off and I can get around I attempt to help others you know the throw away Americans who are not the streets or pretty near close to being there, yep I advocate for them, but then once night falls the illnesses strikes me down like lightening, my point is this crisis is not working its way to being resolved. They are not listening and care less. I was told my doctors I know that if you are 60 yrs old they will just let you die because America is the land of Chronic Illnesses and they are not enough doctors to deal with it therefore if doctors are saying this they know and therefore once you hit 60 the healthcare is going to worse and worse. It does not matter about the insurance because they are not creating cures.
Think Again about it call me 1-888-774-1432 D’Anne Burley
My name is D'Anne Burley and I am a radio talk show host who has issues with health, my goal here is to speak out about the issue of healthcare and what needs to be done, I can't sleep, have fatigue, pain, problems with kidney's and everything else that caused me to go from hospital to hospital because my insurance carrier can limit care by refusal to pay for meds and or pay the hospital bill on time.
After going thru this nightmare since 2004, when I was told I had congestive heart failure, then after getting over 56 meds for the condition tested 2 yrs later and told I never had the condition whereby the medication caused me any additional ill's. I was forced into joblessness, painful movement and no help from any agency because they felt that my condition was not at risk therefore I got no aid. So in pain I did all I could to live and keep my family from being completely on the streets of DuPage County Illinois. I had problems breathing having to sleep in chairs, then I would run out in the middle of the night because of panic attacks due from problems with massive weight gain from all of the water retention.
Then I decided to cold turkey all the meds when I almost died from hospital treatment due to my blood pressure staying at over 200/118 for yrs.
This is when I stated using the internet and reviewing my issues and comparing diseases with what was going on, then I found two great places to go which I will share.

As the president and Congress wrangle over how to fix America’s health care system, one number comes up over and over again: 47 million. That’s the estimated number of Americans without health insurance. What happens when they get sick? And what are their chances of getting better? How do you navigate the system if you can’t pay for care? This story is about a family that confronts those questions. A family who lost, and won, and ultimately lost again because they were uninsured. Dan Weissmann and I talked to Vocalero Cheryl Calvin to get her story.
I had a chance to talk to Greg Matthews from the Innovation Center at Humana Insurance about their recent foray into the world of online media. Their strategy is an interesting mix of online and 'brick and mortar' customer service centers as they attempt to merge on and offline communities and create a sense of place as well as community.
